Gothambu Ada

Gothambu Ada is a delicious and healthy Kerala recipe. Sweet Wheat Ada is a yummy wheat flour pancake with a sweet jaggery-coconut stuffing.

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour/ Atta - 2 cups
  • Water as required
  • Grated coconut- 1 cup
  • Grated jaggery/brown sugar - 1 cup
  • Dry ginger powder - ¼ teaspoon
  • Cardamom powder- ¼ teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – ¼ tsp per ada

Instructions

  • Mix water, flour and salt to make the batter. It should be slightly thicker in consistency than the dosa batter.
  • In a separate container, mix the grated coconut, jaggery, cardamom and dry ginger powder. Keep it aside.
  • Heat a tawa and apply some oil on the tawa.
  • Pour 2-3 teaspoon full of batter on the tawa and spread it to make a dosa like circle. Wheat flour batter sticks to hot tawa so keep the flame low. It doesn’t spread out as easily as dosa batter, so use a spoon instead of a ladle and spread out slowly.
  • Spread the coconut and jaggery mix on the wheat dosa and fold it to half.
  • Turn both sides and let it cook for about 1 minute. While cooking, slowly press on both sides using a spoon.
  • Your Wheat Flour Ada is ready to be served with a hot cup of tea.
