Easy Plain Paratha Recipe:
Parathas are home-style Indian flatbreads that are made by kneading dough, layering it with oil or ghee, rolling it out into discs, and then cooking the paranthas on a hot griddle until they turn golden brown on both sides. You can enjoy these flaky flatbreads for breakfast, lunch, or supper with raita, pickle or any veg or non-veg curry as a side.
To make Wholesome Plain Paratha, firstly take well-sieved atta, in a mixing bowl.
Then add salt and ghee or oil to the atta and mix all the ingredients well.
Now gradually add a little water, mix everything together, and knead the dough with your hand till it all comes together and you get a soft dough. Cover the dough and leave aside for ten minutes.
Then divide the well-kneaded dough into equal portions and roll each portion using your palms into round balls.
Dip the balls in dry flour.
Roll out each ball into a circle and apply oil or ghee on the surface.
Then fold the rolled out and greased paratha in half, and apply ghee/oil once again.
Dip the layered flatbread in flour once again.
Then roll out the twice-folded paratha into a triangular shape.
Heat a tawa over medium-high heat and place the rolled out paratha on it. Cook the Indian flatbread till brown spots appear on the base. Then flip it over with a spatula and drizzle a little ghee.
The paratha should be cooked through and nicely browned on both sides.
Remove and serve Whole wheat parathas with raita, pickle or any Indian side dish of your choice.

Wheat Flour – 1 cup+ ½ cup for rolling out parathas
Salt to taste
Water – about ½ cup
Ghee/Oil – 4-5 tsp
Instructions
Combine wheat flour, salt and 1 tsp ghee/oil in a mixing bowl. Add a little water and knead into a soft dough. Cover and let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
Roll out each ball into a circle on a floured surface. Apply ghee/oil and fold in half.
To prepare paratha recipe, apply ghee/oil once again and fold into half again.
Dip in dry flour and roll out into a triangular-shaped paratha (or square-shaped or circular).
Heat a griddle or tava. Place the rolled out paratha on it and cook till brown spots start to appear on the surface.
Flip over and let the underside cook.
Drizzle a little oil and cook till both sides turn a warm brown.
Remove and serve Plain Paratha with fresh curd or dry/gravy side-dish
