- Wheat Flour – 1 cup + ½ cup for rolling out parathas
- Salt to taste
- Water – about ½ cup
- Ghee/Oil – 4-5 tsp
Combine wheat flour, salt and 1 tsp ghee/oil in a mixing bowl. Add a little water and knead into a soft dough. Cover and let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
Roll out each ball into a circle on a floured surface. Apply ghee/oil and fold in half.
To prepare paratha recipe, apply ghee/oil once again and fold into half again.
Dip in dry flour and roll out into a triangular-shaped paratha (or square-shaped or circular).
Heat a griddle or tava. Place the rolled out paratha on it and cook till brown spots start to appear on the surface.
Flip over and let the underside cook.
Drizzle a little oil and cook till both sides turn a warm brown.
Remove and serve Plain Paratha with fresh curd or dry/gravy side-dish
