Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups apples about 2 medium apples, peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup walnuts chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Lightly grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan, or alternatively, line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon together until well combined.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Next add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Stir in the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.
  • Fold in the chopped apples and walnuts.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Cut the apple cake into slices.
  • Serve fresh Apple Walnut Cinnamon Cake with ice cream.
