Great to have these picture-perfect buns with hot stews or soups, or just topped with butter and honey.
What Are Feather Rolls?
Feather Rolls are lightly sweet, yeast-based dinner rolls known for their ultra-soft, cloud-like texture. Their name comes from the airy “feather-light” crumb achieved by proper proofing, gentle kneading, and the right balance of fat, liquid, and sugar. Unlike crusty bread, these rolls are enriched with milk, butter, and sometimes eggs, which gives them a tender bite and subtle sweetness.
Goodness of Feather Rolls
While enriched rolls are an indulgence, they do offer:
- Energy Boost: Carbohydrates provide quick energy.
- Protein & Vitamins: Milk and eggs contribute protein, calcium, and B-vitamins.
- Iron & Folate: Fortified flour supports red blood cell formation.
- Mental Well-Being: The comfort of freshly baked bread promotes relaxation and positive mood.
(Tip: For extra fiber and nutrients, substitute half the flour with whole wheat.)

- Meanwhile pre-heat the oven to 204°C.
- Bake for 20 minutes at 204°C until golden brown . Brush tops with melted butter while still warm.

- Voila! Soft, lusciously moist and melt in your mouth Feather Rolls are ready! So easy and so good.

Tips for Perfect Feather Rolls
- Use fresh yeast—old yeast won’t rise well.
- Don’t over-flour the dough; slightly tacky dough yields softer rolls.
- Ensure the first and second rise happen in a warm, draft-free place.
- Brush with butter immediately after baking to lock in softness.
- Allow rolls to cool slightly before serving—this finishes the cooking process and improves texture.
