Bread Dosa Quick and Crispy is a simple and easy dosa recipe that you’ll enjoy. A different take on the regular dosa, this crispy instant bread dosa is made with bread, suji and rice flour and requires no fermentation. These crisp dosas are delicious straight off the pan with sambar or chutney.
You can use any variety of bread – white, brown, multi grain bread, fresh bread or leftover bread etc.

If you have leftover bread sitting in your refrigerator, then this Bread Dosa Quick and Crispy is an excellent recipe to use them up. It’s easy to whip up in the morning for breakfast. So next time you’re craving dosa but don’t have the time to prepare the batter, try this instant bread dosa that gives you a crispy golden dosa in minutes!
- To make this easy bread dosa recipe, take 8 slices of bread and trim the edges (optional).
- Then quarter the bread slices and place them in a bowl.
- Pour 3/4 cup of water over the bread slices.
- Mash them up and leave to soak.
- Meanwhile, take suji and rice flour in a mixie jar.
- Just dry grind the ingredients.
- Then add ¾ cup water to the suji and rice flour mixture.
- Blend well.
- Next add the soaked bread slices to the same mixie jar.
- Blend the soaked bread slices, suji and rice flour well.
- Add ½ tsp salt and 6 tbsp. water and blend the batter again.
- Remove the bread dosa batter into a bowl and leave aside for 10-15 minutes.
- Then add baking soda to the dosa batter and mix well.
- Now heat a non-stick pan. Sprinkle a little water and wipe dry with a tissue.
- Next, take a ladleful of batter and pour on the hot tava, over low heat. Spread in a circular motion with the back of the ladle, moving from centre of the pan to its outer edge. Ensure the tava is on low flame or you’ll not be able to easily spread the dosa.
- Leave the dosa to roast undisturbed for about 30 seconds over medium heat. Then drizzle ½ tsp oil all along and on top of the dosa.
- You’ll notice that the outer edges of the dosa will start to peel away from the pan.
- Then flip the dosa, let it cook for 15 seconds.
- Finally, fold the dosa in half and remove onto a plate.
- Make the remaining dosas in the same way. Always mix the batter well before making the dosa. If the batter thickens, keep adding a few teaspoons of water to dilute it.
- Serve delicious Bread Dosa Quick and Crispy with chutney or sambar.

Homemade Instant Dosa With Bread
Ingredients
For Bread:
- 8 slices of bread
- ¾ cup water
For the batter:
- 3/4 cup suji
- ½ cup rice flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 6 tbsp water
- 1/8 tsp cooking soda
- 6 tsp oil
Instructions
- For this easy dosa recipe, take 8 bread slices and cut the edges.
- Slice each bread slice into 4 and transfer into a bowl.
- Pour 3/4 cup water and mash the bread slices. Keep aside.
- In the meantime, take rice flour and semolina in a mixie jar and just dry grind.
- Then add about ¾ cup water and blend well.
- Next add the soaked slices of bread to the mixie jar and blend well with the suji and rice flour.
- Now add salt and about 6 tablespoons of water and blend again to a smooth batter consistency. Remove into a bowl and leave aside for 10-15 minutes. The batter should be of pouring consistency.
- Now heat a non-stick pan. Drizzle a little water on top and wipe with a tissue.
- Then, keeping the pan over low heat, take a round ladleful of the dosa batter and pour onto the tava. Using the back of the ladle, spread the batter in a circular motion.
- Let the bread dosa cook for a minute and then drizzle a teaspoon of oil or ghee all along the edges and on top of the dosa.
- Once the underside of the dosa becomes a crisp golden brown, flip the dosa over and let cook for 15 seconds.
- Then fold the dosa in half and remove onto a plate.
- Make the remaining dosas in the same way, ensuring the batter is of pouring consistency; otherwise, add a few teaspoons of water to dilute the batter.
- Serve Instant Bread Dosa with coconut chutney or sambar.
