French Toast – Classic Cinnamon Vanilla French Toast

French Toast made with bread slices dipped in a mixture of beaten eggs with milk, vanilla, cinnamon and seasoning, toasted to a warm brown in a skillet, and served with butter and maple syrup is so amazing! So fluffy and soft in the inside while gorgeously browned on the outside. This classic breakfast recipe is my all-time favourite.

French toast is also known as Bombay Toast, Eggy Bread, Gypsy Toast, Poor Knights of Windsor, Pafese, Pain Perdue, Frigănele, Arme Ritter, Arme Riddere, Torrija, Spanish Toast, Nun’s Toast or Rabanadas.

You can customize French Toast to your liking – you can make it sweet or savory. You can add spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, vanilla extract, orange or lemon zest to the eggs and milk mixture for a sweeter version. And instead of syrup, you can top it with powdered sugar, chocolate chips or nuts, berries, jam or whipped cream. Or you can just sprinkle salt and pepper and serve the French Toast with ketchup for a savoury option.

French Toast Recipe:

What better way to start your Sunday mornings than with rich and delicious cinnamon-vanilla flavoured French Toast served with warm maple syrup! Slices of bread are simply soaked in a mixture of beaten eggs and milk and then pan-fried in butter until the outsides turn golden brown while the insides remain delightfully soft with flavourful goodness.

  • To make this delicious breakfast recipe, firstly, break the eggs into a wide, shallow bowl.

  • Whisk the eggs lightly.

  • Then add milk, sugar, salt, vanilla and cinnamon powder to the beaten eggs.

  • Whisk all the French Toast ingredients until well blended.

  • Now melt some butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

  • Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the egg-milk mixture. Allow the bread slices to soak for a few seconds and then carefully flip to coat the other side. Don’t leave the slices too long in the mixture, or else they will become mushy.

  • Once both sides of the bread slices are well coated, place them on the hot greased skillet.

  • Cook on medium heat until golden brown on each side.

  • It takes about 2-3 minutes on each side.

  • Serve hot and delicious French Toast with a pat of butter, a drizzle of maple syrup and a bowl of fresh fruit. Yum!
